Who do you think will win American Idol Season 7?

Brooke White: 2
Carly Smithson: 2
Chikezie: 1
Jason Castro: 1
David Cook: 11
David Archuleta: 7
Kristy Lee Cook: 0
Michael Johns: 0
Ramiele Malubay: 0
Syesha Mercado: 0
I don't watch American Idol: 4

****SPOILER ALERTS IF YOU AREN'T CURRENT in AMERICAN IDOL****

So it seems like last weeks performance of David Cook pushed him in front of David Archuleta. We'll see what happens this weeks but as of now it's a race between those two. There's a couple of contestants that I think all deserve to go (in no particular order) but who I don't think can compete with the best.

mini lovefest...

Today was a good day. It's not over yet but it's gone really well so far and I'm just feeling grateful so I'm going to share my thoughts with you all....

Robby didn't wake up too early so that was a nice start. I was able to pick up the house a ton while he followed me around or played by himself which was good - it's hard to find the motivation to clean some mornings and sometimes even when I want to Robby makes it difficult to do so! But today I did all the dishes, organized his toys, did laundry, and even vacuumed! Most of this before he even went down for a nap so that while he was down I could shower and take a break. Pat on my back, thank you very much.

This afternoon we picked Rob up from school and went straight to pick up the Jetta - oh, the Jetta.... the Jetta is a long story... it all started with a striped oil pan. That lead to a fallen out oil plug. Enter: oil light - the bain of my existence. That lead to an empty oil pan (this happened while driving to work, in the course of minutes, not days or anything), which lead to a ruined engine. So we had the engine replaced and the oil light kept coming back on.... we took it to be fixed last week and were hoping that the warranty on the engine work would cover whatever the problem was which apparently it did, thank goodness! Happy day! Anyway, a YEAR later it seems to be in working order. I tell you, if I ever see that *&$%^* oil light come on again in that car! Oh boy!

Jetta, here are some happier memories of you! Like when my mom and dad surprised me at my graduation with the key to you, and then you were in the parking lot of the Marriott Center! And when we drove down to Scottsdale together.... you are a beauty! :)

After dropping Rob back off at school Robby and I met Liv & Cindy for lunch at Bajio's! I have been CRAVING their chicken chimichanga!!!! So delicious! And for some really weird reason I had been dreaming of going to the Bajio's by Provo Town Center. No idea why. I've never been there. It's not different from the one at Riverwoods or anything else.... anyway, we went today and it was truly a dream come true.

So now I'm home, Robby is down for nap #2, house is clean, tummy is full..... lovin' life!

First day on the job!!

Today was my first day of work at APX Alarm. I started training and getting introduced to people I'm going to work with (many of which I already knew from working there before). I'm excited to be able to get out and work--but still have to finish school!! Can't forget about that quite yet (although I kinda want to). I'll be training/working part time until I'm done with school and then jumping in full speed right when school is done. All in all it was a good day--I feel like I have a little information overload but luckily I have a long time to be trained. APX here I come . . . again!!

Robby's wishlist #2!

Only 9 days to Robby's birthday!

Per request, we've got a few items to add to the wishlist! To be honest it's really fun thinking of things so there might even be another addition later....

-this Baby Einstein "My First Signs" DVD
-a toy where he can make parts move, bang with a hammer... this kind of thing
-bibs with snaps, or that are hard to get off
-12-18 size jeans, shorts, or t-shirts
-puppets, any kind, these animal ones are cute
-plastic animals like these from Target

Anything that will keep the little guy busy and not trying to bang a hole in the window would be awesome!

Utah it is!

Guess what? We're staying in Utah! I am so excited! After reviewing our options, Rob decided to take a job at Apx as their Warehouse Manager. He seems excited about the job and I'm thrilled to not have to leave my family and friends. We're still planning on moving out of our current apartment but just a little bit north. It's been fun looking at housing and furniture and I'm sure baby Robby will appreciate our next place being much better child-proofed!

Rob has just a few weeks left of school... While it'll be great to have a good job and be making some money I will miss all the free time he's able to spend with me and Robby. This has been such a fun time in our life - it'll be an interesting next stage we're coming up on!

Happy Birthday Sydney!!!

Dear Sydney,
I've loved you since you were in your mommy's tummy! The very first petite LBG... you were the start of this exciting new stage in our lives.

You are so full of life and personality! I love your smiles and hugs! You getting to be such a big girl - even learning how to use the potty!

But don't grow up too fast, ok? And if the whole "betrothal thing" with baby Robby doesn't work out then you need to at least still be best friends!

Love you forever,

Auntie Esther

Robby's wishlist!

....or MY wishlist FOR Robby!

-classic wood building blocks like these from Melissa & Doug
-an activity block like this
-books - especially anything by Sandra Boynton (except Moo, Baa, La La La & Snuggle Puppy)
-any other bigger boy toys - it's time to put the baby toys away!!!

It's so fun looking around for older toys for him! I can't believe it's almost his birthday!

"I can't get you outta my head..."

What do you do when you can't get a song out of your head?!?! Ahhhh! It's so frustrating - ever since watching this week's American Idol performances I've had the Syesha's song in my head, "I've Got to Get You Into My Life." I don't know that song. I don't LOVE Syesha. I didn't think it was an awesome performance. And I hear her singing it constantly in my head. Why the heck will it not leave me alone. Last night it was keeping me awake!

So, what do you do? I've tried singing primary songs in my head and it works momentarily but I would love to banish the song from my mind for good! HELP!

Skiing at Deer Valley

My dad was in town for a company ski trip so I drove up to Park City Thursday night to meet up with him at the Stein Eriksen Lodge (which was quite nice by the way) and hit the slopes Friday at Deer Valley. We had a great day skiing--the snow was deep. It snowed 8 inches last night and snowed on and off all day. We had 2 guides from Deer Valley take the group around (we skied with my dad's work people) and got some great skiing.

At the end of the day we went and got a drink and some lunch at the Stein Eriksen Lodge
restaurant where we were staying. Word got around that Michael Jordan was there eating lunch, and sure enough, with s0me snooping around we got to see him from about 15 feet away. I didn't know he skied, but apparently he does. It was pretty cool to see him. And it was a great way to finish off a great day of skiing.

P.S. Lindsay--wasn't it you that said you ate at the Stein Eriksen? Was it at the lodge or somewhere else?

First Haircut

Baby Robby's hair has gotten super scraggly lately and we decided it was time for a haircut! His hair was so long it hardly stuck up at all anymore.... just a few pieces in the back. The front was coming down his forhead pretty far and you could see that his hair was 2 different lengths... you can see how long it was...

Here's Rob givin him a buzz.... I imagined it... not quite so short.... he looks SO OLD with short hair! It was nearly impossible to get him to stay still! It's probably a little uneven in places but that's ok. His face looks more round...

Doesn't he look so cute in his pajamas and new haircut?

Oh and a little update - so, Sunday he had a bad fever all day, Monday he woke up and it was 102, after his nap it was about 104 again and he was inconsolable... I was worried so we went to the doctor and turns out both of his ears were infected, poor guy! So we got some antibiotics and we've been trying to keep him comfortable... he still had a bad fever up until this afternoon and now his nose is all runny! Ugh! Hopefully by tomorrow he'll be feeling better! Thanks for all your well wishes!

Field Trip!!

For one of my classes today we took a field trip (I think the first one since high school) to the LDS Church Distribution Center. It's where the church ships out EVERYTHING (books, manuals, paintings, photos, clothes, mosquito repellent, keyboards, microfilm, building materials, food storage, furniture, and more) . It was pretty cool. They ship out over a million and a half magazines every month. They have a shelving and rack system that automatically places pallets on the rack and you just tell the system what you want and it goes and gets it for you and will put the rest back where it's supposed to go. All automated using bar codes. They also have a conveyor belt system that uses bar codes to move product and boxes throughout the whole warehouse (which is large) and automatically tapes the boxes up and then prints out and places a shipping label on the box and then moves it to the region where the box is being shipped--all automatically. It's pretty cool--or maybe it's just cool for us supply chain, logistics, and operations students!!! Anyways, I enjoyed it much more than sitting through a lecture--and I got out of my next class for the day because of it.

sick....... AGAIN!

Well, as if having the stomach flu last weekend wasn't enough poor little Robby woke up from his nap today with an awful fever. It was a little over 102 taking it under his arm and I hear you add a degree to that but I'm not sure. It's been a few weeks since the three of us have gone to church together due to being sick or out of town and so I was a little frustrated that we might miss again but despite his high temperature he seemed ok so we went and he did pretty well.

When we got home he took another nap cause he just seemed exhausted and when he woke up from that he was on fire! His temp then was 104.1 under his arm which made me pretty nervous! I talked to the on call doctor and then we gave him a temp bath and he recommended doing it in the sink and putting 1/2 cup of alcohol in the water, then alternating tylenol and motrin every 3 hours....

By bedtime his temp wasn't quite so bad and hopefully there won't be any problems tonight.... but it was kind of sweet because he was so tired this afternoon he fell asleep just laying on me while I was sitting on the couch.... that NEVER happens! And then before bedtime he and Rob were playing and he was giggling so hard it was adorable. I kind of like the snuggly-ness of sick times....

PS - this went on for about 10 minutes! So cute!

Rascal Flatts Concert

Friday afternoon I got a call from Lindsay asking me if I had plans for that night.... I was on speaker phone so I was a little suspicious.... she said, "well would you maybe want to go to a Rascal Flatts concert?" So after a minute of, "shut up! Are you serious? NO! Serious?!" She explained that her boss had a few extra tickets and she knew how much I liked them and we literally just had a conversation about how great they are in concert (cause she'd seen them before).... anyway! It sure added some excitement to my day!

Rob and I were even more excited when we found out who was opening - Kellie Pickler! We've been a fan of hers since she started on American Idol! She did a great job - she's a cute girl.

It was such a fun concert - they really do put on a great show! Thanks Linds for inviting us to go with you and hooking us up with a babysitter! Yeah for Kaitlin!

Ps - Linds, email me some of your pictures!

Question: Approximately how much time do you spend on average blogging (reading others and updating your own) in a day?

I don't blog: 2
Less than 30 min: 10
30-60 min: 13
1-2 hours: 5
2+ hours: 2

So it looks like blogging is becoming more popular than facebook. Once again . . . google takes over.

Enjoying the warm weather...

Last week we went to the park for the first time since the fall! This was Robby's first time on the slide ever! He was so cute - I love how he closes his eyes when he goes down! He had been doing the more sign to go down again but he wouldn't do it for the camera. There were some dogs across the street that he was fixated on... it was a lot of fun! His reactions are the best and it's exciting to see him having so much fun!

Standing alone!

Here's a quick shot of Robby showing off his new balancing skills! He does it more and more every day....

More Office...

So, for years and years everyone has raved about how awesome The Office is and we've seen a few episodes here and there but haven't wanted to get into another t.v. series since we kind of already watch a lot of stuff.... but we finally have succumbed and we are so glad we did! Thanks Spragues for letting us borrow seasons 1 & 2 and we couldn't even wait for the Blair's to finish season 3 so we got it from Rob's sister Amy.... ahhhh.... anyway! It really is hilarious!

You know what else is funny? Robby LOVES the little intro song.... here's him bouncing to it and when it's over he's asking for more (for those who don't do baby sign that's the more sign... it's so cute!)!

11 Months Old...

...yesterday!

So I'm a day late.... oh well....

Actually I forgot to take a picture of him all day so I snuck in while he was sleeping and used a little flashlight to shine a little light on him and get a picture before the day officially ended.

11 months.... that means almost 12 months... a one year old.... a year has gone by since he was born.... since I gave birth.... wow.

He's getting to be such a big boy! He's crawling all over the place, cruising along all the furniture, letting go and standing all by himself, signing words, clapping, dancing, says da-da (still no ma-ma dang it), smiles and flirts with strangers.... He's such a happy, sweet little boy and I feel so lucky to be his mom!

The stomach flu is no bueno...

So I don't think I've ever had the stomach flu. At least I can't remember having it... and I almost commented the other day on how lucky we are that baby Robby hasn't gotten sick hardly ever and then PRESTO!

Friday he threw up in the morning and afternoon and seemed tired but not fussy at all. So we went swimming (see below) and he was so happy and seemed great. We went to Ikea after since it isn't too far from Lehi and.... not so great! We were eating at their cafe there and he was in his stroller, kind of fussing, so I picked him up, gave him a hug and Rob said, "oh no he spit up on your shoulder," and then all of a sudden there was a huge whoosh and all down my shirt and all over me.... yeah.... it was awful. LUCKILY I had a change of clothes in the car that I went out and grabbed but still....

Anyways, since then we've had lots of changing of clothes.... the both of us! And then, Rob felt left out so late last night he decided he'd start having symptoms and was up for hours between the bathroom, couch, and bedroom.... so I've been taking care of my boys, feeling a little sick to my stomach myself but managing to fight it off - at least for now - thank goodness!

Robby seemed to be able to hold down a little bit of his food later today so I think he's on the upswing and poor Rob has slept almost the entire day and hopefully will be better tomorrow for school. For those of you who know him he NEVER gets sick. EVER. Quote: "I think I've had a headache before...." Yeah. So maybe this will help him have more sympathy for me when I need a little extra TLC. ;)

Hope you are all HEALTHY and if you want to stay that way stay away from here for now!

At least we're still smilin'....

Pool time

We had such a blast going swimming last Friday! Hurray for the Lehi Legacy Center and their aquatic center! It had a perfect kids area for Robby to crawl around in.... he seemed pretty fearless, going off on his own... he absolutely LOVED the pool! We hung out with the Carters there and are excited to go many more times in the future!
