My beautiful new diaper bag!
I've been meaning to post about this for a while but needed to get a cute picture to go with the post - if you know what I mean! ;)
For Christmas Rob gave me the most awesome present! This beautiful new diaper bag! It's a Petunia Pickle Bottom bag which I've been admiring since I was pregnant... I'm almost too shy to say the brand! Some people might think it's ridiculous to spend a lot on a diaper bag but those of you mommies out there know that your diaper bag is basically your only accessory! Your only purse. And you can forget about bracelets, shiny necklaces, and dangly earings! Those little fingers grab and pull so quick! So when it comes to the diaper bag, it's worth getting a cute one!
Thanks honey for helping me feel like a cute mom! And Rob picked it out all by himself! It's perfect!

Make your own radio station
This is pretty neat! Using this website, Pandora, you can create your own online "radio station" using artists or songs you like.... I'm horrible at putting together playlists for my ipod so this is helpful because it adds additional music you might like based on your taste and then as it plays you can edit what actually gets "aired."
Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann
Ok, everyone knows Pincock girls are crazy for any kind of dance show! We love So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars.... as well as movies like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Dance With Me, Step Up, Dirty Dancing, etc!
Now there is a new show for us to enjoy! Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann! I caught the last two episodes and have really liked it so far! They are looking for people who can both sing and dance so it's kind of "So You Think You Can Dance" meets "American Idol" - actually a very entertaining combination.
Has anyone else seen the show? What'd you think?
First walk in weeks!
So this week we went on our first walk in weeks! Well, first OUTDOOR walk in weeks, that is! I go on plenty of walks around the mall... where it is nice and warm! :) The weather was not horrible and it was not pitch black as it appears in these pictures.... too much flash I guess.... I've missed going on walks outside and I wish it would just warm up already!
Sundance Film Festival
Last Sunday at church we had a nice surprise visit from an old ward member--Jed Cowley. Jed and Kate were in our ward but moved to New York City last August. Jed is here because his film made it to the Sundance Film Festival. I was excited this morning to see that the front page of the Daily Universe had an article about Jed and his film "The Loss of a Wrestling Match." Only 84 out of 5,000 submissions made it to the festival. Congratulations Jed!!!
Here is a picture from the film which will have it's first screening Friday morning in Park City.
New Music
Esther and I got a $50 iTunes for Christmas so we're on the hunt for some good new music. With a birthday iTunes gift card I got Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers new cd Glassjaw Boxer. They toured with O.A.R. last summer where I saw them perform and they are on the record label that was set up for O.A.R. called Everfine Records. I've really been liking the cd. So what new music have you been listening to that we should check out?

American Idol Season 7
At least we have American Idol to watch this winter. We started watching 2 seasons ago (when Taylor Hicks won) and have enjoyed it ever since. Because it's a reality show they don't have writers (or the writers are not part of the WGA) and so we get a brand new season. It starts Tuesday, January 15.
The Season 7 Premiere is a two night, four hour special on Tuesday and Wednesday. Let the fun begin!
Robby's latest trick...
I love how at the end he just flops on his belly like a fish.... he sometimes forgets he knows how to roll over or push him self up to sitting position....
Also here's a little clip of Robby getting closer to crawling!
He's not really interested in the army crawl.... but he's been getting more interested in moving all around so I'm sure real crawling is right around the corner.... which means we have our work cut out for us in terms of babyproofing our apartment! Yikes!

BYU Basketball
We went to the BYU basketball game today where the Cougars played Colorado State. They played very well--the final score was 92-73. They were up by more than 20 points most of the 2nd half. This brings them to 12-4 overall and 1-0 in Mountain West Conference. The next game is against UNLV in Las Vegas on January 15.
So I'm really mad at the WGA right now
So I'm really mad at the WGA (Writers Guild of America) right now. Tomorrow, January 13, 2008 was supposed to be the premiere of Season 7 of 24. 24 is my favorite TV show and now I have to wait ANOTHER YEAR or more to find out what happens because of this stupid strike. **SPOILER**Jack is on trial, CTU is gone, and supposedly Tony is alive AND a terrorist and I just want to know what happens. **END OF SPOILER**Stupid writers get paid plenty of money and now they just want more. Who doesn't want more money--GET A NEW JOB IF YOU WANT MORE MONEY. Ok--so I admit that I don't know exactly how the writers pay structure is but from what I know about business it should be the people who take on the risk in the venture who gets most of the money.
Now feel free to correct me if you know something about the structure of the writers pay scale that I don't know--but it seems to me that the only writers that feel they need more money are the writers that write crappy shows. The good writers get paid a lot of money and the bad writers don't. Seems fair to me. But the good writers are dragged into this strike just the same because they are members of a union and don't have any choice. Writers should write because they love it. If they did it for the money they should have gotten a different job. I admit that I'm just writing out of anger and resentment and don't really have all the facts--I just want to watch 24 tomorrow. (So maybe the writers are accomplishing exactly what they want because they are getting everyone to want this stupid strike to just be over.)
P.S. See the spoiler for yourself!
I LOVE true stories....
It's kind of humorous how I can watch a movie, like it, but just knowing it's "based on a true story" makes it so much better!!
We just watched Freedom Writers with Hilary Swank. It's good. REALLY GOOD. What a neat story... here's the link to the actual Freedom Writers Foundation that the story is based on.
Erin Brockovich
Remember the Titans
Glory Road
Pursuit of Happiness
Invincible
Eight Below
Gridiron Gang
We are Marshall
Cinderella Man
Seabuscuit
Cool Runnings
A Beautiful Mind
Hotel Rwanda
Rudy
The Other Side of Heaven
Miracle
(I would've posted links to all of these but it would've taken me FOREVER so I didn't! Sorry!)

Laptops only!
I got this great picture from my father in law's blog... we kind of get made fun of for always having our laptops out but this is basically what our group often looked like over Christmas break!
What the heck do we do all that time on our computers? Blog, read all ya'lls blogs, email, check family website.... the nest.... Rob and I consider ourselves great multi-taksers since we often are on our computers while watching a show or something at home.... it might be silly but we enjoy it!
Court of Honor at the Pentagon...
Daniel (Rob's brother) is now an Eagle Scout! They held his (and four other boys from Kentlands Ward) Court of Honor at the Pentagon. It was really neat! We had to bring 2 forms of id, give all of our names ahead of time as well as license plate numbers, be escorted through the building... each of the boys received a binder with letters from important people congratulating them on earning their Eagle - one from the President of the United States even! How awesome!
Joe Gibbs Retired . . . Again.
So after the Redskins disappointing playoff loss last week Joe Gibbs announced that he is stepping down as the head coach and President of the Redskins. Dan Snyder tried to change his mind (apparently they were up until 3:30AM talking the night before he announced it) but to no avail. Gibbs wanted to spend more time with his family.
So the Redskins have begun the process of finding a replacement. Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz became the first person to interview. Also a consideration is Gregg Williams who is an assistant with the Redskins.
We'll have to wait and see who ends up with the job, but Joe Gibbs will be missed in Washington.
A horse named Rube....
My Grandpa had a horse that when we used to go visit them in Roanoke we'd get to ride him around a little ring.... his name was Rube. My family isn't really the type that you can picture horseback riding but this was always a highlight of those Roanoke trips...
Now ol' Rube's saddle sits in my parents basement on a barrel, waiting to be ridden by the grandkids!

Concealed Firearms Permit
So I applied for my Concealed Firearms Permit about a month ago. I took a class and sent in all the paperwork and when I got back from the break my permit was in the mail. The permit allows me to carry a loaded gun (which can't be seen by others) in public places (except a few restrictions). I don't actually own a gun, let alone many guns, which would necessitate a gun rack (for those Wayne's World fans and an inside joke) but I am planning on getting one. I like to target shoot and I want a gun for protection and so getting a CCW permit was a good intro to getting one. I don't know exactly how I feel about me carrying a gun yet--that's still to be determined.
I realize that this is a topic that people have drastically differing opinions on (including my own siblings) but I do feel like if you are responsible that it can be a useful tool in protecting yourself and your family should the need arise-- and it also can provide some fun entertainment. Feel free to have a different opinion on the topic--you won't change my mind but it can make for some interesting debate!!
And for those who like guns this is the one that I want to get:
