WHERE ARE THE GIRL SCOUTS!?

I NEED my Thin Mints!!!!

Last year I know they were outside of Wal-Mart sometime in March - I was 9 months pregnant and we bought about 10 boxes! It was awesome.

Check here to find cookies near you! Here's the listings for Orem - looks like mid-March is when we're gonna get lucky! Can't wait!

Need some parenting tips?

Well this website that my brother Andrew shared with us was just really helpful! I only picked a few of my favorite "instructions" to post but you can see the rest here.

Jon & Kate again...

Our episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 finally aired! For those of you who read that really lengthy post I wrote about our encounter with the Gosselin Family you'll know what I'm talking about! It was so exciting to meet them and Rob & Robby actually made it on the episode! Here's a picture of the shot with them in it and then I actually videotaped our tv so here's the clip of that! Do you see them? Rob's in the blue shirt - right above the last little Gosselin girl's head! This was when we were stuck in Boise!

It aired on TLC last night but I'm sure it'll repeat both on TLC and Discovery Health! The episode is about their ski trip to Park City - the plane ride episode... it was a 2 parter. :) I know this is totally small and silly but it's exciting to us!

hey sorry if the video's not working - i don't know what the problem is.... i'll try to fix it....

Letting go...

Just starting last week Robby has been letting go of things and standing on his own for a few seconds at a time. The other morning after I nursed him I put him back in his crib to play for a bit while I tried to read my scriptures (this is our morning routine)… after a few minutes he was standing up holding on to the edge and it was like he called out to me and when I looked up he smiled, kind of took a step back from the bars, and then let go... smiling at me and laughing when he lost his balance and had to reach back out for the bars. I was shocked! We clapped and laughed! I knocked on the wall to wake up Rob and so he came in and we watched him do it several more times. I got some of it on video even. It was just so cute how he got my attention and then was so proud of himself and happy about it….

Not that walking isn't going to be awesome but crawling is still cool and leads to brain development - the longer babies crawl, the better really! Sometimes I feel like he’s just growing up so fast! Each new stage is exciting but does time really have to go by so quickly?

Two Front Teeth

Robby's top two teeth have been working their way in for a few days now! As you can see here one is all the way through and the other was not far behind in this picture and as of this morning I'm able to feel a little bit of it so it's also popped! We had one horrible night of sleep - happened to be in our motel room in Mesquite, ew - but other than that he's been such a sweetie during this teething time....

Google Reader

If you don't use Google Reader to do your blogging, you should! It is amazing! Lindsay introduced me to this and she even blogged about it recently and at first I was skeptical but it really is neat! You just put in the urls of all the blogs you check and it tells you when they've been updated! You can see the new posts in Google Reader but I like to use it to see what's new and then actually go to that person's blog. Also I don't know how to make comments in Google Reader so to do that I have to go to the blog anyway but it is great to know when people have updated their blog without checking each one on my list.... saves lots of time!

Anyways, it's really neat! Check it out!

PS, Google is amazing....

Viva Las Vegas

Last weekend we took a road trip down to Mesquite and Las Vegas!

We went with Amy & Nathan to celebrate her birthday - a little early but it coincided with President's Day so it worked out! :)

This was the longest car drive baby Robby had ever been on! He did great - mostly thanks to Amy & Nathan who sat in the back with him and played with him! Thanks guys!

Saturday we hung out in Mesquite. We went bowling and also to a dinner and breakfast buffet - yum! So much fooooood! We stayed at the fabulous Valley Inn Motel! ;) Nathan was a little nervous of this place he'd booked for us but I thought it was great!

Sunday and Monday we spent in Las Vegas. We walked up and down the strip, saw the Lions in the MGM, watched the water show at the Bellagio, went swimming at our hotel (baby Robby was SO excited to be in the water, it was so cute!), ate at the Cheesecake Factory and In-N-Out, and just had a great time!

One of the best parts of the trip was the beautiful weather! It was great to get away from snowy Utah and walk around in some sun!

More about me...

Sorry if this is Esther overload... I got this from Kate's blog...

In case you are one of those people who think the name/word Esther = 90 year old lady you might want to think again! According to this very smart, accurate, website there is so much more to my name! ;) Yeah not really sure if it fits me or not but it's interesting never the less! I think it kind of contradictory but whatever....

What Esther Means

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.

You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.

You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are truly an original person. You have amazing ideas, and the power to carry them out.

Success comes rather easily for you... especially in business and academia.

Some people find you to be selfish and a bit overbearing. You're a strong person.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.

You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

I heart Old Navy!

Old Navy was - maybe still is, I don't know - having their 40% off baby clothes sale and it was amazing! I wanted to buy so many things because the prices were so good! We have basically no clothes for the next size up for Robby so I tried to make the most of this chance and got lots of stuff for him for this summer! Hurray! Also it was so nice because Rob took baby Robby on a walk to other stores so I could just shop in peace. I loved it. And look at all the cute stuff I got - all this for $58!

A tag about me!

Betsy tagged me a few days ago - sorry it took so long to do! Hopefully this will be somewhat interesting to you all!

10 years ago:
High school.... I was on the pom squad (dance team), went on a Russian exchange program to Moscow, loved going to stake dances and hanging out with my friends!

If I were suddenly a billionaire:
Rob could stop looking for a job and just do whatever projects he wants to do in the business world... I would buy a house and a 350 Z for Rob. I'd go out to eat probably every day and treat my friends! I'd help my family and friends buy houses and buy everyone presents all the time! It's so fun to spend money on other people. Of course we'd also give money to the church and other groups - especially childhood cancer research groups.

Things on my to do list today:

  • Buy stamps!
  • Unpack (from our Vegas trip)
  • Do the dishes
  • Get ready for sewing class (starting tonight! yeah!)
3 bad habits:
  • I gossip with my girlfriends! Yikes! I think girls are just gonna do this by nature but I should be more careful about what I say. I'm trying to hold my tongue!
  • I drink a lot of soda. A LOT.
  • I let my pedicures grow almost completely out - I never remove any polish myself. I just wait till I get another pedicure, which is usually not for 6 - 12 months. :) See:
3 Places I've lived:
  • Provo, UT
  • Voronezh, Russia
  • Kensington, MD
5 Jobs I've had:
  • Lead Account Manager
  • Truck Driver Recruiter
  • Bookkeeper
  • Hostess
  • Typist
5 Things nobody knows about me:
Um, I think I'm pretty much an open book so I have to think hard about what you might not know...

  • I walked in April 2007 but didn't finish my last independent study class and actually graduate till April 2008. Let's just get that out there! Whew!
  • I really like the game Boggle.
  • I used to lick my lips so much when I was little it literally looked like I had an extra bottom lip. Really cute.
  • I was born in France.
  • I am really good at arm wrestling.
Ok, now I'm tagging Lindsay, Olivia, and Cindy!

First real owie

Do you see this? Ouch!

So in the last couple weeks that Robby has been crawling and pulling himself up onto furniture he has not had one bad bonk - until Sunday! It was the day Rob was coming home, the day we'd been waiting for! But that morning Robby bonked himself 4 different times! On the couch, the wall, my knee, and then the tower that holds our receiver and dvd player and stuff.... That last one he planted his face directly into the sharp corner of it and scratched his face so bad! It was all red and puffy and looked much worse but I didn't have the camera until Rob got home later that day.

Oh yes - we were so happy to see dad when he got home! It was actually pretty cute - we walked in the door and Robby was playing on the floor with Amy & Nathan and he looks up and sees his dad and got the hugest smile on his face! He looked around at everyone else just beaming, and then back to dad.... it was so cute!

"I'm so glad when daddy comes home, glad as I can be!"

I think this is the most hilarious facial expression:

Magic Cabin

If you hate noisy or obnoxious toys you should check out this site, Magic Cabin. It's full of really classic and creative options! Nothing cheap or plastic.... They say, " the words "batteries are not included" do not appear in our catalog simply because our toys are "kid powered"." They also have lots of Arts & Crafts projects and dress ups!

My nephews Tyler & Robby have their swords and shields, a bow & arrow set, and even a kid sized guitar! Anna & Gwen love to look through their catalog and pick out their favorites! The Kathe Kruse babies are some of my favorites - that's what Robby, Annie, Anna & Gwen are all holding!

aren't my nieces and nephews so cute?

Writer's Strike Over?

I was flying home from Tahoe when I caught a glimpse of the newspaper the guy sitting next to me had--it said that the writers were close to agreeing to a deal. It was agreed to by the boards of both divisions of the union over the weekend and the writers are going to vote on it tomorrow. Let's hope that they get back to work soon so we can get some new shows on. I think it will still take a while to get things ramped back up, especially for shows like 24. We'll have to wait and see what the updated schedules for shows. We're anxiously waiting.

Poll Results February 11, 2008

Question: What is your favorite place to eat out of these options?

Cafe Rio: 19
Mimi's Cafe: 9
Rice King: 1
Pita Pit: 0
Panda Express: 1
Los Hermanos: 2

Skiing at Tahoe

We've had a great week skiing. Tahoe has gotten a ton of snow in January but none this week. It's gotten really warm as the week went on.

My brothers are kind of crazy.

Spencer, who is 9, went down his first black diamond:

Andrew, who is 12, attempted his first invert (if you want to see the video check out Papa Parsons blog)

And Daniel, who is 18, is just plain nuts--he surpassed my skiing capabilities when I was on my mission and I've been trying (unsuccessfully) just to keep up ever since:

And I liked this sign . . .
